Google has announced plans to launch a chatbot to compete with OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT.
The move comes after OpenAI released its own chatbot which offers a simpler way to find answers than traditional search engines like Google.
Microsoft recently announced a big investment in OpenAI and is planning to use its AI in its Bing search engine.
However, Google did not specify when its new services would be available.
CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a blog post that some of the technology behind ChatGPT was invented at Google but the company has been slow to integrate its advanced AI into its services.
Pichai announced that Google will launch a chatbot called Bard that will give users access to Google’s powerful language-based AI system LaMDA.
The chatbot will be a separate service under its own brand, separate from the search engine.
What is Google Bard Chatbot AI ?
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that using AI to “read” web pages and provide answers is more expensive than regular internet searching.
To reduce pressure on profits, Pichai announced that the new chatbot, Bard, will use a lighter version of LaMDA that requires less computing power.
He also stated that Google will use AI to answer complex questions within its search engine, saving users from searching multiple websites.
To match OpenAI, Pichai said Google will release APIs for LaMDA, allowing developers to create their own services using the language AI.
Several search startups, such as Perplexity AI and Neeva, have already integrated advanced language technology from OpenAI
and other companies in their services, either to provide longer answers or to replace their search results with chatbots like ChatGPT.
Bard is driven by Google’s LaMDA, which stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications.
Currently, a streamlined version of LaMDA will power the chatbot.
Bard aims to offer new and reliable answers by accessing information from the web, and it can also simplify complicated subjects.
To ensure the quality, safety, and accuracy of Bard’s responses, Google will gather feedback from external sources and combine it with their internal testing.
How does Google Bard Chatbot AI Work?
Bard aims to merge the vast amount of knowledge in the world with the capabilities of Google’s advanced language models.
It obtains information from the internet to give fresh and accurate responses.
Bard serves as a creative outlet and an opportunity for exploration, helping you share information about the latest discoveries from
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope with a child or learning about top football strikers and drills to improve your own abilities.
Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, referred to Bard as a significant step in their AI journey.
He said that the goal of Bard is to merge the vast knowledge of the world with the strength, intelligence, and imagination of their large language models.
